The power of three
Dance, Somatic Exploration, and Erotic Bodywork
Beginning, middle, and end – past, present, and future – body, mind, and spirit. Three is the number of creation and manifestation – when an initial idea (1) finds its embodied form (2) to form a third thing that exists where before was nothing.
In the realm of the sensual and the erotic, three-way explorations offer an exponential abundance of possibilities and complications. All successful partnerships also need a Third in some sense – an interest, common project, or belief system that grounds the connection and frees those in the relationship from focusing too exclusively on each other.
In this workshop, we will draw on somatic exploration, trio improvisation scores, and three-way game structures to explore relating beyond the binary. Will we emerge as the Three Little Pigs, or the magical being offering three wishes? We will most likely change group constellations regularly throughout. Consent will be a central topic of the workshop, and the boundaries of all involved will be prioritized at all times. All genders welcome.
ABOUT DAVID BLOOM
David Bloom (he/him) is a choreographer, dancer, teacher, father, filmmaker, pianist, bodyworker, fermenting Jewish mystic, and tea collector. Graduated from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt and the M.A. Choreography course at HZT Berlin, as well as the Urban Tantra Professional Training Program with Barbara Carellas. He was a member of the dance ensemble at Staatstheater Darmstadt, and has collaborated as a dancer on projects by Tino Sehgal, Marco Santi, Nir de Volff/Total Brutal, Micha Purucker, Ingo Reulecke & Lukas Matthaei, Canan Erek, Friederike Plafki, Barbara Bess, Felix Ruckert, Akemi Nagao, Martin Nachbar, and Michael Turinsky.
His dance film trilogy S*x & Space premiered at the Berlin P*rn Film Festival and was screened internationally. His choreography has also been shown at Tanzfabrik Berlin, Dock11 Berlin, La Fête du Slip in Lausanne, and at the Stockholm Dance Film Festival. He has also made choreography for students in HfMdK Frankfurt’s B.A. in Dance. David was a 2012 danceWEB scholar and his teaching has included HZT Berlin, Tanzquartier Vienna, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Human Architecture Lab in St. Petersburg, the K3 Center for Choreography in Hamburg, the M.A. of Contemporary Dance Education in Frankfurt, STRETCH Festival Berlin, the Body IQ Festival Berlin, the Rietveld Academie for Fine Arts & Design in Amsterdam, & the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna.
For the past decade or so, his work has revolved around questions of Desire, Intimacy, Boundaries, Power Relationships, Consent, and Group Dynamics. Other interests include Cross-Pollination, Pleasure, Space, Cellular Structures, the Digestive System, Fermentation, Sourdough, Beauty, Breath, Time, Spirit, and Transformation.
David is currently a transdisciplinary artistic PhD candidate at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and Linz Arts University (Kunstuni Linz) with his proposal “Desire to Become One – S*x, Spirit, & Choreography and Active & Receptive Practices”.
The power of three
Tanz, somatische Erforschung und erotische Körperarbeit
Anfang, Mitte und Ende – Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft – Körper, Geist und Seele. Drei ist die Zahl der Schöpfung und der Manifestation – wenn der Anfang einer Idee (1) ihre verkörperte Form (2) findet, um etwas Drittes zu bilden, das existiert, wo vorher nichts war.
Im Bereich des Sinnlichen und Erotischen eröffnen Explorationen zu dritt eine exponentielle Fülle an Möglichkeiten und Komplikationen. Alle erfolgreichen Partnerschaften brauchen in gewisser Weise auch ein Drittes – ein Interesse, ein gemeinsames Projekt oder ein Glaubenssystem, das die Verbindung erdet und die Beteiligten davon befreit, sich zu sehr auf den*die andere*n zu konzentrieren.
In diesem Workshop werden wir mit somatischen Erfahrungen, Trio-Improvisations-Scores und Spielstrukturen zu dritt arbeiten, um Beziehungen jenseits des Binären zu erkunden. Werden wir uns als die drei kleinen Schweinchen entpuppen oder als das magische Wesen, das drei Wünsche anbietet? Wir werden die Gruppenkonstellationen regelmäßig wechseln, und Consent wird ein zentrales Thema des Workshops sein. Die Grenzen aller Beteiligten werden zu jeder Zeit Priorität haben. Alle Gender sind willkommen. In Ter zu hinterfragen (ähem, Turbokapitalismus).
DAVID BLOOM
David Bloom (er/ihn) ist Choreograph, Tänzer, Dozent, Vater, Filmemacher, Pianist, Bodyworker, fermentierender jüdischer Mystiker und Teesammler. Absolvent der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt/Main und des M.A. Choreographie am HZT Berlin, sowie des Urban Tantra Professional Training Program bei Barbara Carellas. Er war Mitglied des Tanzensembles am Staatstheater Darmstadt, und arbeitete als Tänzer u.A. an Projekten von Tino Sehgal, Marco Santi, Nir de Volff/Total Brutal, Micha Purucker, Ingo Reulecke & Lukas Matthaei, Canan Erek, Friederike Plafki, Barbara Bess, Felix Ruckert, Akemi Nagao und Martin Nachbar mit.
Seine Tanzfilmtrilogie S*x & Space hatte beim Berlin Porn Film Festival Premiere und wurde international gescreent. Seine Choreographische Arbeit war auch bei der Serie “Open Spaces” der Tanzfabrik Berlin, im Dock11 Berlin, beim La Fête du Slip in Lausanne und beim Stockholm Dance Film Festival zu sehen. Er choreographierte auch für Studierende des B.A. Tanz an der HfMdK Frankfurt. David war 2012 danceWEB-Stipendiat und unterrichtete u.A. am HZT Berlin, Tanzquartier Wien, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Human Architecture Lab in St. Petersburg, K3 Zentrum für Choreographie in Hamburg, dem M.A. Contemporary Dance Education in Frankfurt, STRETCH Festival Berlin, Body IQ Festival Berlin, Rietveld Academie for Fine Arts & Design in Amsterdam, & dem ImPulsTanz Festival in Wien.
In den letzten Jahren dreht sich seine Arbeit um Fragen des Begehrens, der Intimität, Grenzen, Machtbeziehungen, Consent, und Gruppendynamiken. Weitere Interessen sind Kreuzbestäubung, Freude, Raum, zelluläre Strukturen, der Verdauungsapparat, Fermentation, Sauerteig, Schönheit, Atem, Zeit, Spirit, Zeit und Transformation.
David arbeitet aktuell an einer transdisziplinären künstlerischen Promotion an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste und der Kunstuni Linz zu dem Thema “Desire to Become One – S*x, Spirit, & Choreography as Active & Receptive Practices”.
